50 years in Luxembourg, a strategic hub for the Group
Intesa Sanpaolo’s IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division has celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Group’s presence in Luxembourg, the financial heart of continental Europe, where Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Luxembourg operates as a strategic platform for international growth.
Part of the Division’s international network, Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Luxembourg is the first Italian bank of systemic importance in the Grand Duchy and one of the six Other Systemically Important Institutions identified by the Luxembourg supervisory authority.
Founded in 1976, Intesa Sanpaolo Luxembourg serves as the centre of the Group’s activities in the country, and its headquarters, Intesa Sanpaolo House, also hosts Intesa Sanpaolo Wealth Management and Eurizon Capital SGR – Luxembourg Branch.
To mark this important milestone, the Group organized an event for representatives of institutions and the economic and financial community of the Grand Duchy, and exhibited works by Jannis Kounellis, acquired in 1976.
On this occasion, the top management of the IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division highlighted that in 2025, excluding Italy, more than EUR 170Bn in financing had been provided, including project finance deals worth more than EUR 30Bn, accounting for more than 20% of the European total. In addition, in its role as Bookrunner, the Division issued bonds for approximately EUR 60Bn.
Key to sustain these growth trends are also the investments launched by the EU in strategic areas such as climate transition, digital infrastructure, aerospace and defense, the Blue Economy, and healthcare.
