Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Luxembourg as Mandated Lead Arranger in the first in kind Greenfield renewable pipeline Warehouse Financing

Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Luxembourg, part of Intesa Sanpaolo’s IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division, acted as Mandated Lead Arranger in structuring a EUR 1 billion construction facility that will support the development and construction of Aquila Clean Energy’s renewable energy pipeline in Spain and Portugal, over the next three years.

The pipeline, with an overall investment amount of EUR 2 billion comprises more than 50 projects, mainly solar photovoltaic and onshore wind farms (greenfield), with a total electricity generation capacity of 2.6 gigawatts.

The EUR 1 billion construction facility consists of EUR 400 million term loan from the European Investment Bank – one of the biggest loans ever granted by the EIB and supported by InvestEU programme- and EUR 600 million revolving credit facility provided by commercial banks (Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Luxembourg, Santander, NatWest, KfW IPEX-Bank, BNP Paribas, ING and Banco Sabadell).
