Digital Horizons: AI Perspectives, Experiences and Value Creation
On 21 October, Intesa Sanpaolo’s IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division hosted the second edition of “Digital Horizons: AI Perspectives, Experiences and Value Creation” in Milan. The event is part of a series designed to engage companies in discussions on the evolution of artificial intelligence and its impact on business processes and models.
Following the first event in March, which brought together different perspectives and experiences on AI adoption, this second edition shifted the focus from experimentation to practical integration into business processes. The discussion explored what it takes to turn AI’s potential into measurable, sustainable results.
Stefano Favale, Global Head of Global Transaction Banking, opened the event by highlighting how the initiative builds on the Bank’s ongoing dialogue with companies about the changes shaping business and the importance of helping them understand the opportunities offered by technological advances. Francesca Trolio, Head of GTB Business Planning & Development, then introduced and moderated the event, guiding the discussion through market perspectives, corporate experiences and emerging AI applications.
Pier Luigi Pisa, journalist for La Repubblica and artificial intelligence expert, opened the debate with an overview of key figures on AI adoption and the growing use of agentic systems. His presentation highlighted a clear shift in focus: from access to technology to its integration into processes and organisations’ ability to deliver tangible results.
A roundtable followed, featuring Marcello Savarese, Chief Data Analytics Officer at WINDTRE; Alessandra Fidanzi, Head of Digital Governance, Strategy & Transformation | Data, AI & HPC Centers of Excellence at Eni; and Maddalena Amoruso, Senior Director AI Delivery Center at Intesa Sanpaolo.
Drawing on their different experiences and perspectives, the speakers explored some of the key challenges facing large organisations as they adopt AI: rethinking processes before introducing technology, measuring the benefits of real-world applications, and recognising the growing value of each company’s unique data, business context and knowledge.
Daniel Rota, Chairman & Co-Founder of Webidoo, and Francesco Falanga, Head of R&D at Webidoo and CEO of Webidoo Engineering, further explored how AI applications can translate into value. Their presentation focused on the gap between the widespread availability of AI tools and their effective integration into day-to-day business operations. They outlined an approach based on the orchestration of systems, data, workflows and agents, highlighting the need to embed AI within well-governed processes so that productivity gains translate into business impact.
Silvia Botto, Head of IMI CIB Strategies and Marketing, closed the event with an overview of AI trends and their implications for Corporate & Investment Banking. She also discussed the opportunities for companies at the forefront of this transformation and the key priorities of the IMI CIB Division’s AI strategy.
With this second edition, Digital Horizons builds on the dialogue launched in March between the Bank, companies and experts. The series will continue in 2027 with further events, giving companies opportunities to explore and share insights into how advances in artificial intelligence are reshaping the business landscape.
