Obiettivo Italia 2026 – Geopolitics and global markets: how to navigate them? Second stop: Battaglia Terme
In its second stage, Obiettivo Italia brought together over 50 representatives from some of the most important large-scale businesses in the North East at Battaglia Terme (Padua).
In this macro-region, the economy relies on a commitment to innovation and a capacity to export successfully to international markets. Here, the Italian Network of the IMI CIB Division of Intesa Sanpaolo works with over 1,400 companies, belonging to 244 groups, with a total average cash loan portfolio of approximately €6.3 billion, equivalent to around 8% of the national total.
As Michele Sorrentino, Head of the Italian Network IMI CIB Division, states, the capacity of companies in the North-East to create value and innovation is high:
“Large and medium-to-large enterprises in the North-East are tackling the rapid changes underway with a marked ability to adapt and a pragmatic attitude: in a more uncertain environment, they are not standing still, but are recalibrating their strategies, diversifying supply chains and markets, and focusing on investment in innovation, which has become even more urgent with the conflict in Iran; one need only consider the benefits offered by technology in terms of efficiency and energy savings”.
The meeting was followed by an in-depth session on economic and geopolitical scenarios and their impact on local areas. Among the speakers was Giovanni Foresti, Head of Regional Research Intesa Sanpaolo, who outlined the relevant macroeconomic and geopolitical context.
Building on this analysis, the event also provided an opportunity to refresh the IMI CIB Division’s offering in the capital markets, with particular reference to instruments for risk hedging, a topic that generated considerable interest among those present. In this context, the presentation by Stefano Rivellini, Head of Corporate & Strategic Solutions Sales, IMI CIB Division, explored the solutions available to support businesses in managing the main sources of volatility, receiving a positive response from the audience.
The programme also featured numerous presentations on risk management and innovation as a lever for business transformation, with contributions from managers of the IMI CIB Division and the Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center. The closing remarks were delivered by Bruno Pacini, Head of IMI CIB North-East Region.
Obiettivo Italia is the national series of meetings organised IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division of Intesa Sanpaolo, dedicated to engaging with businesses on the key drivers of transformation, including international scenarios, risk management and innovation.
Over the course of the year, Obiettivo Italia will visit eight Italian locations in the most dynamic areas of the national economy.
