IMI Corporate & Investment Banking supports clients in global debt markets
Intesa Sanpaolo, through its IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division began 2026 with robust activity in the global bond markets.
During the first quarter, the Division participated in the issuance of more than 80 bond issuances, with an aggregate value exceeding EUR 60Bn. This performance underscores its position as a leading player in international debt capital markets and highlights its ability to support both domestic and prominent global issuers. Most of these issuances were denominated in euro and US dollars.
Leveraging a highly specialistic approach, able to meet increasingly broad and complex client needs, the IMI CIB Division supports companies and financial institutions in accessing international debt markets, including through the placement of Hybrid Bonds.
Hybrid instruments represented a significant share of first-quarter activity. These securities, which combine characteristics of both debt and equity, provide issuers with enhanced financial flexibility.
Notably, the IMI CIB Division acted as Structuring Advisor and Joint Bookrunner on Terna’s inaugural issue of a perpetual, subordinated, non-convertible EU Green Hybrid Bond, with a total value of EUR 850M, placed with institutional investors.
The Division also acted as Joint Bookrunner on Enel’s EUR 2Bn Hybrid Bond, structured as a perpetual issuance across two tranches (NC6 and NC9), and on Eni’s EUR 1Bn perpetual NC6.25 hybrid bond. Most recently, Stellantis successfully priced a EUR 2.2Bn perpetual NC5.25 issuance. In addition, the Division participated in multiple AT1 issuances by banks and financial institutions.
Overall, the IMI CIB Division has thus confirmed a strong start to the year, further reinforcing its role as a trusted partner for issuers seeking access to global capital markets.
