The IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division of Intesa Sanpaolo participated in the EUR 234.1M project financing in support of European Energy, alongside a pool of other European banks, for the construction of a 225 MW agrivoltaic plant in Vizzini, in the province of Catania.
The project financing benefits from a 20-year Contract for Difference, awarded under Italy's FerX government support scheme.
The facility will be one of the largest in Italy and is scheduled to become operational in 2028, generating 405 GWh of electricity per year, corresponding to the electricity consumption of more than 135,000 households.
The project combines large-scale renewable energy generation with agricultural activities, reforestation initiatives, and biodiversity protection measures.
