EBAday 2026 on the future of payments and transaction banking

EBAday, organised by the Euro Banking Association (EBA) and Finextra, is the leading annual European event dedicated to payments and transaction banking professionals; the summit brings together banks, fintechs, market infrastructures, regulatory authorities and technology providers to discuss the transformations redefining the payments ecosystem in Europe.

The 2026 edition took place on 16 and 17 June in Copenhagen, under the title “The New Payments Landscape: Navigating Change in 2026 and Beyond”. Over the two days, participants explored some of the most relevant topics for the sector, including instant payments, cross-border payments, open banking, stablecoins, European payments regulation and applications of artificial intelligence in financial services.

The event recorded strong participation from the international payments community, with more than 1,400 delegates and over 90 exhibitors, sponsors and fintechs, confirming its role as one of the main opportunities for discussion and networking for the sector at European level.

As part of Intesa Sanpaolo’s participation, Sergio Dalla Riva, Head of GTB Solutions of the IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division and member of the EBA CLEARING Board, took part in the activities and received the handover from the Danish banking community to the Italian one.

This marks an important step ahead of EBAday 2027 in Rome.
