AENA receives a loan linked to ESG criteria

Intesa Sanpaolo, IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division , as sole lender, signed a 500 million euros credit facility with AENA SME S.A. the Spanish airport operator. The deal,  finalized in December 2021, entails a 3+1+1 years bilateral term loan, with the inclusion of ESG criteria.

The spread of the loan is linked to the achievement of both environmental impact reduction and social objectives, measured by on the evolution of sustainability parameters (ESG performance, corporate governance, emissions, effluents and waste, business ethics, etc.).

The deal confirms the Intesa Sanpaolo commitment to be a landmark for the best European companies with a focus on a more sustainable economy, supporting them, not only in Spain, even in the pandemic hardest moments, and it also confirms its role of support to the European recovery and resilience plans.

AENA SME S. A. is a Spanish company incorporated as a public limited company that manages airports of general interest in Spain. The company, which is 51% owned by the public business entity ENAIRE, operates 45 airports and 2 heliports in Spain and participates, through its subsidiary "Aena Internacional", in the management of 15 airports in Europe and America, which makes the company the world's largest airport operator by number of passengers.
