Discussion on sustainable infrastructure, a common good for Italy

The Conference "Sustainable infrastructure: a common good" - promoted by the IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division - took place in Rome on 21 October. It was an important opportunity to reflect on the state of the art of infrastructure in Italy, comparing gaps and cases of excellence and analysing the prospects for the near future to relaunch the country in the direction indicated by the PNRR.

During the meeting, opened by Gaetano MiccichèChairman of IMI CIB DivisionChief Mauro Micillo spoke about the actions to be taken to improve Italy's attractiveness for investment by international industrial and financial operators.

The conference was attended by institutional figures such as Enrico Giovannini, Minister for Sustainable Infrastructures and Mobility, and Mara Carfagna, Minister for the South and Territorial Cohesion. Top managers from leading groups in strategic sectors also spoke, such as Matteo Del Fante, CEO and General Manager of Poste Italiane, Luigi Ferraris, CEO of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane, Renato Ravanelli, CEO of F2i, Alessandro Rivera, General Manager of the Treasury and Pietro Salini, CEO of WeBuild, as well as representatives of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group, such as Laura Segni, Head of Legal Advisory Division IMI CIB and Paola Papanicolaou, Head of Transformation Center.

They discussed reforms, a crucial factor on which to base solid growth, innovation in the long term to generate positive impacts over time, and how to make Italy more efficient, competitive and attractive, through the strengthening of current infrastructure and the construction of future ones. In addition, there was an analysis of the challenges that the economic and financial community will have to face, together with the institutions, in order to contribute to the relaunch of the country within the European framework.

Digitisation and energy transition, equity and social inclusion were the principles that characterised the speeches and debate during the day.

This was the occasion to highlight the commitment of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group, the IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division, institutions and the business world to act in a coordinated manner to foster a sustainable, ethical and inclusive society, which will be made possible by a solid and modern infrastructure asset.
