ASSIOM FOREX Congress 2025
The 31st ASSIOM FOREX Congress was an opportunity to debate and discuss contents of topical interest and relevance for institutions and market operators, with the support of Intesa Sanpaolo as main partner and the qualified participation of the IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division.
THE FUTURE OF THE FINANCIAL SYSTEM
The first day was dedicated to relevant topics such as the future of the financial system and of intermediaries, with an interesting keynote speech by Chiara Scotti, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Italy, who delved into the main megatrends impacting the financial sector and the way these developments can be reconciled with central banks' objectives and policies. At the same time, the challenges to be faced within an increasingly complex regulatory framework were highlighted.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND DIGITAL TRANSITION OF THE FINANCIAL SECTOR
The first day's panel discussed about the challenges and opportunities related to artificial intelligence and the digital transition in the financial sector, with contributions from representatives of the finance and banking as well as the academic and technology sectors.
ITALIAN AND GLOBAL ECONOMY: SITUATION AND FUTURE CHALLENGES
The second day opened with the awaited speech by Bank of Italy’s Governor Fabio Panetta, who as usual described the state of the Italian and European economy and illustrated how new trade balances and protectionist policies will increasingly be used as strategic means in the management of international geopolitical relations.
ASSIOM FOREX Chairman Massimo Mocio pointed out that it is necessary to be ready to take our organisations to a new dimension, to be able to seize the opportunities that will surely emerge, to increase our authority and promote the financial culture of the system.
During the afternoon panel, a constructive discussion took place between representatives of the corporate world, finance and philanthropic banking foundations on the global economy, with a special focus on tariffs, corporate credit and geopolitical risks.
According to Mauro Micillo, Chief of IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division of Intesa Sanpaolo, the tariffs announced by the USA and the possible trade ‘war’ represent a crucial match for global trade, growth and companies, in which the possibility of finding agreements that protect the needs of both sides is anyway foreseen.
The above topics are explored in this video by Massimo Mocio, ASSIOM FOREX Chairman and Deputy Chief of IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division and Mauro Micillo, Chief of IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division of Intesa Sanpaolo.
