Financing Roccasecca battery energy storage

Intesa Sanpaolo’s IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division took part, alongside a pool of international banks, in a financing of approx. USD 290M for the Roccasecca project.

Located in Nevada, in Boulder City, Roccasecca is a 127 MW / 506 MWh battery energy storage system currently under construction, with commercial operations expected by 2026. The project will help improve operational efficiency and grid flexibility in the energy market of the southwestern United States. The financing is part of the sale of the Roccasecca project by IOWN Energy, on behalf of its client Eolus North America, to DESRI, one of the leading independent power producers.

The IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division acted as Coordinating Lead Arranger, leveraging its structuring capabilities and extensive experience across various energy sectors in support of the client and the project.

Transactions such as this confirm Intesa Sanpaolo’s role in promoting investments in low environmental impact infrastructure across major global markets, further strengthening the Bank’s position as a key partner in the transition towards more sustainable energy models.
