Double Win at TXF's Export Finance Deals of the Year 2024

Two standout transactions, Carnival Corporation and Keliber Technology, earned Intesa Sanpaolo IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division well-deserved recognition at this year’s TXF Global conference, confirming our leadership in driving strategic and sustainable export finance.  The awards were presented during the TXF Global 2025 Conference, held in Copenhagen last June 10 - 12.

In particular the categories in which we have excelled are:

●  Transport Export Finance Deal of the Year and Overall Export Finance Deal of the Year- Carnival Corporation: a €4.4 billion ECA-backed loan to support the purchase of three next-generation cruise ships from Fincantieri. This transaction represents the largest cruise ship financing ever recorded in the export finance market and a milestone deal that underscores the sector’s resilience and long-term vision.

●  Mining Export Finance Deal of the Year: Keliber Technology: a €500 million green loan to finance a sustainable extraction lithium project in Finland, supported by a guarantee from Finnish Export Credit Agency (FINNVERA), alongside a direct loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB). This is a strong example of how ECAs and DFIs are increasingly joining forces to accelerate sustainable industrial development.

These deals reflect the strength of our client partnerships, our ability to manage complex cross-border structures, and our focus on long-term, sustainable impact. The conference confirmed how export finance is evolving into a strategic lever for global priorities — from renewables and social infrastructure to sustainable transport  and defense — in an increasingly complex and sensitive geopolitical landscape. Intesa Sanpaolo is well positioned to play an increasingly active role.”

Intesa Sanpaolo dedication to contributing to the broader goals of sustainability, resilience, and strategic relevance continues to set new benchmarks in the industry.
