Mission to New York to promote the Italian maritime economy
In April, with the support of the New York branch of Intesa Sanpaolo's IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division, a series of meetings were organised to promote the strategic role of Italian ports in the Mediterranean through the Unique Special Economic Zone (ZES) of Southern Italy and the Simplified Logistics Zones (ZLS) of Central North Italy.
The mission, which saw the involvement of Italian and US companies, Port System Authorities and leading operators in the logistics and sea transport sector, aims to promote the foreign development of the Italian maritime and logistics system through interaction with US operators and, therefore, attract foreign investment in the infrastructure system.
This is the first Italian ZES and ZLS mission to the United States after the stops in Germany, the United Arab Emirates and China, which confirms Intesa Sanpaolo's role as an aggregator between the business world and public institutions.
The initiative was conducted in collaboration with the Italian Propeller Club and SRM at the presence of the Italian Consul General in New York, association and institutional delegates from the Italian port and maritime system, and numerous Italian companies.
With this series of meetings in New York, Intesa Sanpaolo - which, as part of the broader EUR 410 billion programme planned to support the NRPP and outlined in its strategic guidelines by CEO Carlo Messina - is reinforcing its role as the leading bank in the sector and aiming to foster further expansion of its American presence in Italy, especially in the maritime economy sector.
