Awarded at Financecommunity Awards 2023

Intesa Sanpaolo, IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division was again honored at Financecommunity Awards 2023, the most prestigious event that rewards excellence in Italian finance and was held on November 16 at Palazzo del Ghiaccio in Milan.

Organized by Financecommunity.it and now in their ninth edition, the awards give recognition to players in the financial sector who have distinguished themselves during the year in terms of the number and type of deals they have been involved, value of the deals concluded, and their characteristics.

IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division was honored this year as "TEAM OF THE YEAR M&A" for playing a primary role in major deals on the Italian scene. This success, like the recognition in the previous edition of "Team of the Year Corporate Finance," shows how Intesa Sanpaolo plays a central role in M&A in our country and is the reference point for major large corporations, financial institutions and private equity funds, in transactions characterized by strategic importance. Taking the stage was, Marco Perelli-Rocco, Head of M&A Advisory, together with his team.

Among the motivations reported at the awards ceremony were: the merger of Autogrill with Dufry, the sale of a minority stake of Valentino to the Kering Group, and the acquisition of control of Neopharmed Gentili by NB Renaissance alongside Ardian. In addition, thanks to its recognized expertise in various sectors at European level and the Group's increasingly global vocation, the M&A team assisted Masdar, an international renewables player based in Abu Dhabi, in the acquisition of a minority stake of Iberdrola's Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm, and the Marcegaglia Group in the acquisition of the stainless-steel Long Products business of the Finnish multinational Outokumpu. 

In a highly complex and uncertain market environment, the caliber of the deals followed demonstrates once again how the integrated approach of advisory and financial solutions on different aspects of transactions was a crucial factor in meeting client needs.

Riccardo Barili, Head of Industrial & Healthcare M&A, was also honored as "Professional of the Year Pharma," thanks to his solid knowledge of the sector and a multi-year track-record of several deals in the pharmaceutical and CDMO segments.
