Italy and European Governance reform

On March 20, at Centro Congressi Fondazione Cariplo in Milan, was hold a conference on the economic reform presented by the European Commission in November 2022.

The Commission will make legislative proposals based on the outcome of discussions with the Member States, with the aim of reforming the regulatory framework by the end of 2023.

The IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division of Intesa Sanpaolo organised the conference as the first public occasion in Italy to discuss the topic.

Jacques Moscianese, Head of Intesa Sanpaolo Institutional Affairs Dept. opened the conference; followed a keynote speech by  Marco Buti, Head of Cabinet of Economy Commissioner Paolo Gentiloni; Gregorio De Felice, Chief Economist at Intesa Sanpaolo, moderated a panel with economists and academics, who discussed the Commission's proposal, the implications for Italy and the possible compromise solution between the Member States; the closing speech was by the Minister of the Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti, who represented the position of the Italian government and an update on the ongoing discussions.
