Italian Sustainability Week

Borsa Italiana organizes the third edition of Sustainability Week in September 2022, a conference aiming to create both public opportunities for debate and direct dialogue between companies and investors.

During the conference, experts and opinion leaders will share their strategic vision, highlighting their plans for sustainable growth, financing tools and sustainable investment strategies. In addition, companies will have the opportunity to discuss their sustainability strategies with domestic and international institutional investors.

Intesa Sanpaolo, IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division, supports the initiative both by virtue of its participation in the Sustainable Finance Partnership and as a co-broker involved in organising the meetings between companies and investors.

Mauro Micillo, Chief of IMI CIB Division, will participate in the opening day of the event in the session "Implementing PNRR and Green Deal: achievements and challenges for public and private players".

Barbara Valbuzzi, Head of Market Strategy, will participate on 7th September in the session "ESG evolution in fixed income markets: from issuers market experiences to trading on secondary market".

These are the topics that will be covered

  • 5 September: Implementing NRRP & GREEN DEAL: achievements and challenges for public and private players; the webinar aims to provide an update on the implementation of the NRRP and the Green Deal, with an overview of the projects in place by both public and private operators
  • 6 September: The strategic relevance of ESG: from the role of leading players to the engagement with market stakeholder; A group of investors, analysts and ESG rating providers will dialogue directly with issuers on the strategies for integrating the ESG KPIs into the evaluation, rating and investment processes. Finally, the third panel will focus on the Science Based Targets initiative and on the Italian experience in the zero-carbon transition by setting emissions reduction targets grounded in climate science.
  • 7 September: ESG evolution in Fixed Income markets: from issuers market experiences to trading on secondary market; The world of ESG debt issuance is constantly growing, not only in terms of new issues, but also with reference to the new types of products, intended to finance sustainable development in the short, medium and long term. The day will develop from the experiences of the primary market and then question about the potential secondary development for ESG debt.
  • 8 September: Widening ESG Investors’ base: new products and data needs; Savings flows for sustainable investments are growing and the market addresses the expansion of the investor audience involved by providing new financial products such as ESG ETFs or ESG Structured Products. The panel will examine the opportunities and challenges of this change and the associated new ESG data needs.
  • 9 September: Focus on Italian Experiences: The Week closes by giving voice to those who are supporting the growth of sustainable finance in Italy, with a focus on collective engagement experiences and on the innovative support given to SMEs by the financial and advisory ecosystem.
