Financing for Grimaldi for high energy efficiency ships

The IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division of Intesa Sanpaolo has finalised a EUR 162.3 M financing to Grimaldi Euromed, a Grimaldi Group company, for the purchase of three next-generation Pure Car & Truck Carrier (PCTCs) ships, named Grande Egitto, Grande Pacifico and Grande Oceania.

The three vessels have a transport capacity of 9,800 CEU (Car Equivalent Units) and stand out for their high energy efficiency and reduced environmental footprint, thanks to the adoption of advanced technological solutions, including:

  • readiness for the use of ammonia as a zero-carbon fuel (Ammonia Ready)
  • Green Plus, Green Star 3, Comfort Vibration and Comfort Noise Port class notations
  • large-scale lithium-ion battery systems with a total capacity of 5 MWh
  • 2,500 square metres of solar panels
  • cold ironing and air lubrication systems
  • innovative gate rudder enhancing propulsion efficiency and manoeuvrability.

The transaction, structured as a Green Loan, once again demonstrates Intesa Sanpaolo Group's commitment to supporting the energy transition and the sustainable development of the maritime sector.
