Financing one of the world’s largest carbon capture and storage plants
The Intesa Sanpaolo’s IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division participated, together with a pool of international banks, in the financing of over EUR 700M to Stockholm Exergi.
This financing supports the construction, located near Värtaverket (Stockholm), of Beccs Stockholm, one of the world’s largest facilities for the capture and permanent storage of biogenic CO₂.
This facility is expected to be operational by 2028, with a capture capacity up to 800,000 tonnes of CO₂ per year, and to make a meaningful impact in the fight against climate change contributing tangibly to the global energy transition.
Stockholm Exergi is Stockholm's largest energy company serving more than 800,000 residents through a 3,000 km.
Thanks to this transaction, Intesa Sanpaolo Group, led by CEO Carlo Messina, confirms its leading role in financing strategic initiatives for energy transition and environmental sustainability.
