With the EIB to promote the energy transition and sustainable growth

The IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division of Intesa Sanpaolo and the European Investment Bank (EIB) signed two financial transactions totalling EUR 750M, aimed at supporting the development of renewable energy plants with a capacity of 2 GW and mobilizing investments in the real economy exceeding 4.5 billion euros.

Specifically, through a financing, the EIB is providing Intesa Sanpaolo with EUR 500M to promote total investments of EUR 670M in photovoltaic, wind, and bioenergy projects.

The second transaction, carried out under the InvestEU program, involves a counter-guarantee of EUR 250M within the EIB’s EUR 6.5Bn Wind Package. This agreement allows Intesa Sanpaolo to activate additional bank guarantees up to EUR 500M, stimulating new investments in the European wind energy supply chain.

These long-term investments are creating value for companies, communities, and the wider economy.

These transactions fall within the broader goal of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group, led by Carlo Messina, to support operators and companies through the energy transition, strengthening a strategic supply chain for the competitiveness of the European Union and sustainable growth.
