Strengthening the Development of Italian Excellence Abroad.
The example of Marchesi Antinori.

On 10 October 2023, the initiative ‘Supporting the growth of Italian excellence abroad. The example of Marchesi Antinori’ was held at the Antinori nel Chianti Classico winery.

In addition to Piero Antinori and Renzo Cotarella, Honorary Chairman and Managing Director of Marchesi Antinori respectively, Sara Giusti of Industry Research and Stefano Barrese, Head of the Banca dei Territori Division, took part on behalf of Intesa Sanpaolo.

On this occasion, it was discussed how the strength and potential of Italian brands have always sparked the interest of foreign investments in our country, a significant aspect that raises the need for greater enhancement and development of major Italian companies in international markets.

An example of such a process is Marchesi Antinori, one of the oldest family-owned quality wine companies, which at the end of June completed the acquisition of full ownership of Stag's Leap Wine Cellars, an American producer of excellent Cabernet Sauvignon.

Together with other Italian financial institutions, Intesa Sanpaolo supported Marchesi Antinori in the transaction, confirming its commitment to enhancing Italian agrifood quality and to affirming the sector's brands in the world.

In order to support our clients in the processes of growth and protection of Made in Italy, and to help them in times of business discontinuity with financial advice and assistance in investment banking transactions (M&A, Equity and Debt Capital Markets and Structured Finance), the bank has set up the Corporate Finance Mid Cap team within the IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division, which cooperates with the Banca dei Territori Division on an ongoing basis.
