A loan with innovative sustainability characteristics to the Rome Biomedical Campus
The Corporate & Investment Banking Division of Intesa Sanpaolo has signed a EUR 50M loan agreement with Campus Bio-Medico S.p.A. for the construction of new spaces and infrastructures, with characteristics of environmental sustainability and energy efficiency, for university teaching and scientific research at the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome.
Around EUR 30M will be dedicated to the construction of infrastructures that will lead to a significant improvement in the energy efficiency of the new spaces dedicated to university education, informal learning and campus life.
EUR 20M will be used to extend the maturity and thus refinance a previous investment dedicated to the construction of the hospital and university complex which today constitutes one of the country's medical, scientific and academic centers of excellence.
This operation is part of the EUR 6Bn earmarked that the Intesa Sanpaolo Group dedicated to the circular economy in the 2018-2021 Business Plan and which since its launch has financed around 200 projects.
"Supporting Italian excellence such as the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome in its development projects gives Intesa Sanpaolo great pride and satisfaction," said Richard Zatta, Head of Global Corporate of the IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division of Intesa Sanpaolo. “At a time like the present, which is profoundly marked by the effects of the pandemic, providing support to the healthcare sector, universities and scientific research is even more crucial. The funded project will further expand the areas for university education with eco-sustainable and low environmental impact structures".
