The UK government recently communicated its new Infrastructure Plan, covering a ten-year period (2025-2035) and with estimated investments of over € 846 billion in infrastructure works, energy transition and the enhancement of social and environmental systems, with a focus on urban mobility, housing, renewable energy sources, healthcare and education.

Following the launch of the British Infrastructure Plan, Intesa Sanpaolo's IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division promoted the conference in London ‘Infrastructure and Growth Opportunities for Europe and the UK: Focus on the UK Infrastructure Strategy’, offering companies, infrastructure funds and institutional investors the opportunity to discuss the need for a stronger partnership between the public and private sectors and for investments to support sustainable growth in Europe and the UK.

The financing of sustainable infrastructure, in addition to facilitating the green and digital transition – the twin transition – remains a strategic pillar of the Division's strategy, thanks to its ability to mobilise capital for the real economy and the technical expertise of its professionals in advisory and in structuring in project and public financing.

Mauro Micillo, Head of the IMI CIB Division, opened the conference, followed by keynote speeches from John Edwards, Director and COO of the Office for Investment of the UK Government, Enrico Letta, former Italian Prime Minister, and Alan Morrison, Intesa Sanpaolo Professor of Business, Ethics and Finance at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. The subsequent panel discussion, moderated by Andrea Mayr, Head of Client Coverage & Advisory, IMI CIB Division, featured representatives from IKIGAI Capital, ENI UK, Masdar, Macquarie AM, Ofgem, and SSE Renewables.
