With the awaited speech by Bank of Italy’s Governor Ignazio Visco, the Assiom Forex Congress, held in Milan in early February, with the qualified participation and strong support of Intesa Sanpaolo's IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division once again this year, closed. The meeting of the financial community provided an opportunity for a lively discussion on the general conditions of the economy affected by the energy crisis and geopolitical tensions, on the outlook for markets going through a delicate conjuncture, and on current and future innovations in the financial system.

The many intermediaries in attendance were reassured by the words of the Governor who, in a frank and articulate speech, expressed cautious serenity about the conditions of the Italian economy and finance, and in particular noted the good moment for Italian banks, which have significant capital soundness and higher potential profitability than in past years. Visco did not hide, however, the delicacy of the choices to be made at this stage by the ECB and central banks in the field of monetary policy, stressing the need for the necessary action to fight inflation not to penalize national economies.

In this video, Gherardo Lenti Capoduri (Head of Market Hub), Bernardo Bailo (Head of Global Markets Sales & Platform), and Andrea Mayr (Head of Client Coverage & Advisor) from Intesa Sanpaolo's IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division explain the main topics and market outlook for 2023 discussed at the Assiom Forex Congress in Milan.
